A Statement of Purpose and Activities:
The Worship and Music Committee meets regularly (usually once a month, 3rd
Thursday) to plan and review the public worship services of our congregation.
The goal is meaningful worship that honors God, expresses the faith and values
of the Lutheran Church, builds the congregation and welcomes guests and
visitors. The group develops a worship schedule by seasons, three or four months
in advance, choosing hymns, liturgies, and special emphases. Staff members, who
are part of the group, are responsible for scheduling organists, choirs, and
rehearsals. A calendar in the “music room” is the primary place for recording
choices arrived at through conversations among musicians. Communications for
the bulletin are due in the church office a week in advance. The committee
makes recommendations to the church council regarding budget requests, legacy
requests, repairs, service agreements, and staffing for music leadership. Along
with regular communication in bulletins and the Reminder, an annual report is
printed for the congregation. Feedback is always welcome.
