Types of Membership
Guests
Relatives of members, guests from out of town and those of you who may have recently moved to our community, we welcome you and thank you for choosing to visit Immanuel. We hope that you enjoy your experience and come back to visit us again.
Attendees
Regular or semi-regular participants in worship services and/or church-related activities who are not formal members of the church. We ask Attendees to prayerfully consider joining our church and/or consider transferring your membership to our church to officially become a member of our congregation. We also ask that you consider contributing financially to our congregation as well as volunteering to participate in special events and fund-raisers. We’re excited for you to embrace the warmth, support and connection of our Immanuel family.

Members
Individuals who have formally joined the church through a membership class and/or transferring membership from another church, baptism, or confirmation. Confirmed Members achieve Voting Member status by communing (receiving Holy Communion) and financially contributing to our congregation.

Legacy Members
We honor that while many feel very connected to the spiritual legacy of Immanuel Lutheran church because they grew up attending Immanuel, have family members still active members of the congregation, or ancestors that were rooted in the church, that they may no longer feel theologically connected to the ELCA. In this instance, we bless you seeking and finding other places to be your spiritual community and home.
Similarly, we also hope that if you move from away from Cedarburg, you find a local church home. We want you to know that we make Immanuel available to you for special rites of passage, like baptisms, weddings and funerals. We want you to feel at ease that we will always honor the legacy connection you feel and will do our best to joyfully honor your requests when asked. We appreciate all the years we have had together, at whatever phase you have been a part of Immanuel's history, and hope to remain spiritually friendly, even if we differ and part ways through distance or theology.
